Winged
Passion You hear the engine, humming high above you, and you can't help but look up. Whether a Cessna 150, a bi-plane or a Snowbird, your imagination is captured and your mind soars, intrigued, longing, and ready for flight. If this is you, you will find enjoyment in the photographs that Max Poppers, owner of Silver Spirits Photography, delights most in taking: imagery of classic airplanes that captures the imagination. In 1993, Max began attending and drooling over the restored and well loved classic airplanes. His interest in aircraft and his skill as an artistic photographer blended to create scrumptious photographs in vivid colors, puzzles that will keep you guessing about what angle of an aircraft you are actually looking at, and an almost geometric photographic perspective with a sculptural quality. Max's photographs are in demand by both pilots and sky-dreamers alike. The most likely reason is that he loved everything about the sky and flying from a very young age. But it wasn't until he turned fifty that he took his first flying lesson on Christmas day, a gift from his mother-in-law. Once he took to the skies, his attendance rate to local air shows increased. Realizing that he was developing a good collection of aircraft photographs, he put together his first photographic "air show" in 1997, as a tribute to a unique group of active and retired pilots in San Rafael, California. Now as a resident of North Carolina, he continues to add to his body of work, much to the appreciation of pilots everywhere. Like most
people with a passion for wings and flight, you can often find Max and
his camera at the local airshows. If you spot him, stop and say hello.
He'll talk airplanes with you as long as you want. HOME • GALLERY • ABOUT US • SERVICES • FUN STUFF • RESOURCES
